Project Engineer (Savannah Office)

HGBD is currently seeking a Project Engineer with municipal water and wastewater experience for our Savannah, GA office.  The sucessful candidate will use his/her technical abilities to plan, analyze and design water treatment and distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, water source development and wastewater treatment and disposal.  The Project Engineer will be responsible for development of preliminary engineering reports, engineering calculations, technical reports, permitting, construction drawings and project specifications.  The successful candidate is expected to perform work within assigned budget, schedule and quality requirements and be able to successfully manage a project from concept through construction.  Ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills; be capable of sucessfully interacting with multiple disciplines to complete a project; and have the ability to obtain a Georgia Professional Engineer License.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required.  Graduate-level work preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience minimum required.
  • Experience with standard industry software such as WaterCAD, SewerCAD, AutoCAD, BioWin and/or other standard software.
  • Knowledge of ArcView and ArcMap preferred.
  • Prior experience in municipal water and sewer projects preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A positive team attitude and commitment to our work and our clients.

CADD Technician (Savannah Office)

HGBD currently has an opening for a Water/Wastewater CADD Technician in our Savannah, GA office.  The main responsibility of the CADD Technician is to create designs under the direction from a Project Engineer or Project Manager for various municipal design projects.  This position will require familiarity with plant piping systems with a grasp of spatial relationships of plant elements.  The successful candidate should:  have an understanding of municipal utility systems and fundamental requirements for water, sewer and storm drainage utility layout and design; have a basic understanding of Architectural and Structural drawing terminology and drawing presentation; and be skilled in the knowledge of construction drawing preparation and presentation.  
 
Desired Qualifications:
  • Associate’s or technical school degree.
  • Must be proficient in ACAD 13 3D and Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of ArcView and ArcMap very helpful and preferred.
  • Prior experience in municipal water and sewer CAD-related projects preferred.  
  • A positive team attitude and commitment to our work and our clients.

Assistant Survey Department Head/Project Manager (Mt. Pleasant Office)

Hussey, Gay, Bell & DeYoung (HGBD) is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Survey Department Head/Project Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the firm’s survey crews and CAD staff. Responsibilities will also include individual project management, scheduling and ensuring client satisfaction. HGBD’s survey work includes, but is not limited to, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction layout, route surveys and as-builts. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate meaningful supervisory experience in these types of work. The successful candidate will be able to work with minimal supervision to complete projects with demanding scopes and schedules.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in related field or Bachelor’s Degree of any type.
  • Must have been licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor in South Carolina for a minimum of three (3) years.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of management level experience in a land surveying firm.
  • Experience and knowledge with Civil 3D, AutoCAD and Microstation programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills sufficient to represent the company to clients, municipal agencies and others.

Senior Project Representative (Savannah Office)

Hussey, Gay, Bell & DeYoung is currently accepting applications for a Senior Project Representative.  This position requires construction observation of Water and Sewer Piping, Pump Stations, Water/Wastewater Treatment Plants, Grading Streets & Sites, Paving, Storm Drainage and Concrete projects.  We are seeking a candidate who is self-motivated with leadership skills, good work ethics, good verbal communication and writing skills.  The ideal candidate will have worked for a general contractor specializing in the construction of water, sewer and storm drainage systems, site grading, base and paving and concrete work.  Candidate must be able to inspect ongoing construction projects for quality, accuracy per contract documents and approved standards.  Review of contract documents for constructability and cost evaluations is also a job requirement.

Architect (Gainesville Office)

Hussey, Gay, Bell & DeYoung International, Inc. (HGBDi) is seeking someone for their Gainesville, Georgia office with a B Arch or M Arch professional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution and licensed to practice in the State of Georgia (or capable of being licensed) for at least 3 years. Skills desired are the ability to design and manage projects up to $40M, recruit and maintain clients, and demonstrate experience in AutoCAD, and Revit. He/she should have the capacity to understand and communicate complex issues that involve the functional and aesthetic areas of architecture and the desire to work in a team-oriented, fast paced, small-office environment.

Senior Site Design Engineer (Savannah Office)

The Savannah office of Hussey, Gay, Bell & DeYoung is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Site Design Engineer for full-time employment. Successful candidate will design and manage site design projects for private/developer clients as well as local governments and authorities. Responsibilities will include the development of concept and construction plans, specifications and bid documents, necessary calculations and reports, as well as permitting for site plan approvals.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an acute ability to communicate and work closely and effectively with client representatives, permitting authorities, and HGBD staff to deliver a successful project, within budget. The successful candidate will be expected to complete work in a timely manner and manage design projects with minimal oversight.

Candidate shall, at minimum possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited curriculum.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of professional work experience with an emphasis in site design, utilities, grading, drainage analysis and associated permitting.
  •  A professional engineering license in the State of Georgia.
  •  Knowledge of and experience in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D, drainage design programs, especially XPSWMM or similar dynamic modeling software and/or other similar design software.
  •  Effective planning, scheduling and organizational skills.
  •  Effective oral and written communication skills.

Transportation Engineer (Savannah Office)

HGBD is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Transportation/Highway Engineer with eight (8) years of experience for full-time employment.  Successful candidates will design and manage certain aspects of transportation projects for state and local governments, including the development of construction plans, cost estimates, bid documents, various calculations, and quantity takeoffs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting in the design and creation of construction documents on a wide variety of transportation projects.
  2. Different roadway design components including typical sections, earthwork, geometric layouts, drainage and hydraulic analysis, erosion control plans, signing and marking plan, safety features and maintenance of traffic plans. 

Assignments will also involve tasks associated with producing a set of construction documents including design, drafting, quantity computations, specifications, and cost estimates.

Candidate shall, at minimum, possess:

  • An undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited curriculum.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of professional work experience with an emphasis in highway/ transportation design projects, including complete preparation of ROW and final construction plans.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer is required.  Ability to obtain licensure in GA and SC within 6 months, if not currently registered in either.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, and MUTCD publications, specifications and standards, and GDOT and/or SCDOT design standards.
  • Knowledge and experience in use of roadway design programs, MicroStation V8i, GEOPAK Road and Drainage, and InRoads.
  • Effective planning, scheduling and organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Candidates will be expected to complete work with minimal oversight.  Occasional travel will be required in completing site visits, conducting plan review meetings, and attending public meetings.

Senior Hydraulic Engineer (Savannah Office)

HGBD is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Hydraulic/Drainage Engineer with ten (10) years of experience for full-time employment.  Successful candidates will design and manage certain aspects of transportation and drainage improvement projects for state and local governments, including the development of construction plans, cost estimates, bid documents, various calculations, and quantity takeoffs.

Candidate shall, at minimum, possess:

  1. An undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited curriculum.
  2. A minimum of ten (10) years of professional work experience with an emphasis in hydraulic studies, analysis and design.
  3. A professional engineering license in the State of Georgia  and/or South Carolina.
  4. Knowledge and experience in use of drainage and roadway drainage design programs, especially XPSWMM or similar dynamic modeling software, HEC-RAS, Geopak and/or Inroads.
  5. Demonstrable expertise with either AutoCAD/Civil 3D or MicroStation V8i.
  6. Effective planning, scheduling and organizational skills.
  7. Effective oral and written communication skills.

Tasks will primarily include the following items:

  • Performing civil engineering design and project management with emphasis on drainage for state and county highway and drainage improvement projects.
  • Performing hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and reports including flood risk reduction studies, hydraulic modeling and calculations, floodplain studies, implementation of drainage systems, and specifications.
  • Performing complete hydrologic/hydraulic design of roadway drainage systems, bridge hydraulic analysis, and erosion control design and other ancillary plans.
  • Design, analysis and plan preparation for roadway and site development drainage and stormwater management systems to meet state and local regulatory requirements.
  • Supervising technical staff assisting with project completion.
